Robin’s Chesapeake Crabgrass Dip

This family heirloom recipe for creamy and green dip, from contributor Kate Livie, is sweet with crabmeat, and smeared on crackeers is the perfect thing to hold in one hand while the other pinches the stem pf a glass of champagne. It is the ultimate party food.

Ingredients

SERVINGS: one party dish
  • 1 stick butter
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 1 package frozen spinach
  • ¾ cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 container Maryland Crabmeat
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • ¼ cup dry sherry

Preparation

Cook spinach according to package directions; drain. Melt butter in skillet. Add chopped onion and cook until soft. Remove from heat. Add cooked, drained spinach, crabmeat, cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and sherry and mix well. Transfer into a small baking dish and sprinkle with Old Bay. Bake in a 350° preheated oven until bubbly and slightly browned. Serve with water crackers, a silver spreading knife and a sense of panache.
