Experience for the Senses: Redner's Fresh Market
Family-owned Redner's Fresh Market opens in Lewes, Delaware with aisles and aisles of fresh options!
The experience begins with the fresh-squeezed OJ-maker as you enter the store, continues around to the fresh-prepped veggie counter and the choose-your-nut butter grinder, then over to the on-site popcorn maker and mouth-watering displays of fresh meats, fish and seafood. Without a doubt, Redner’s Fresh Market redefines shopping as an experience for all the senses.
The newest store in the family-owned company, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020 and owns 44 supermarkets and 21 quick shops across Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, opened in November in Lewes, Delaware. A full complement of Redner family members were on site for the launch, along with many of the 141 new employees.
President and CEO Ryan Redner, grandson of founders Earl and Mary Redner and son of Chairman of the Board Richard Redner, is especially proud of this newest store. “Over the last few years, as the whole world has changed, so have supermarkets and shoppers,” he says. “Our Fresh Market stores celebrate what’s fresh and in season locally, as well as making it easy for home cooks to prepare delicious and healthy meals with the best ingredients.”
Executive Chef Tim Twiford, who oversees the central kitchen, collaborates with Redner’s Nutritionist Meredith McGrath RD, LDN, not only in in the development of prepared dishes, but also recipes, features and tips (shared in their online series “Food for Thought”) to help inspire customers make the most of the fresh seasonal products available in the store.
Redner’s Markets is owned by members of the family and employees, through a stock-ownership plan started in 1975. Along with Ryan and Richard Redner, Ryan’s cousin Gary Redner, serves as the company’s Chief Operating Officer, and another cousin, Alexis Foreman, heads up Human Resources.
Gary shares the whole family’s excitement in launching the Lewes store. “This opening celebration has been worth the wait,” he says. “There’s nothing better than seeing the wide-eyed smiles from our customers and the pride our employees have in showcasing our newest Fresh Market.”
